New desk

Since I had to move desks today at work there will only be the Bibi post. My new desk comes with a 15" monitor that I can't do anything on, even work, nevermind do work and blog at the same time. So you will all have to suffer today. Not like anyone is reading these anyways... sigh.

BIBI the dog

BIBI the dog was blown away by his walk yesterday, literally.
The tiny Maltese-shitzu cross came off second best when gale-force winds ripped across the Melbourne pier he was strolling on with owner Sue Drummond.
Ms Drummond watched helplessly as Bibi, who tried valiantly to dog-paddle back to Brighton Pier, was blown further into the surging water by winds of more than 100km/h. Lucky for Bibi, Raden Soemawinata stripped down to shirt, jocks and socks dived in after the terrified dog.Mr Soemawinata, 20, was on the pier for a family ceremony to scatter his grandmother's ashes into the Melbourne bay.

"It was pretty cold and windy but it wasn't such a hard decision to jump in, it wasn't such a great feat," he said.

Put these in order...

Put these in order from best to worst (good to evil, least mischief to most mischief).
Also note where "evil" starts.

Sprite (ashleigh's recipe for a sprite is a fairy with a dash of mischief)
Gnome
Leprechaun
Fairy (not Ferry as I had it before, it's not a boat)
Gremlin (is this a real thing or is it just from a movie?)
Goblin
Hob Goblin (a more menacing cousin of the Goblin)
Bugbear (cousin of the goblin; comparable to the Boogie Man)
Troll
Pixies
Elves (i.e. brownies)

P.S. Ogres are disquailified b/c they are too big

Possible applications of the ranking system: to help qualify your feeling of frightenment or terror in units that are clear to others

this is my post with the MOST spelling errors ever, words spelled wrong: knome, gobblin, ferry... etc.

Who is this?!

Could you pass a driving test?

Let's see how much we remember... Just answer the multiple choice questions. (There are only 18.) You might not do as well as you think, just don't accidentally pick purplish guava like I did :). Brittany, this will be good practice for you!

Real Life Video Games

Just some fun pictures of classic video games. These are my favorites.

Speaking of video games in real life check out this video of Remi Gaillard dressed up as pacman running though a grocery store, golf course, and bar eating golf balls and pool balls. Ghosts chase him throughout the store. It's funny, but I can see why the store manager gets very angry, he does tons of damage knocking over displays, almost tackling people. Remi Gaillard is a prankster from France and he has done numerous pranks. He is so famous that he even has his own Wikipedia page which talks about his fame. "...a famous appearance disguised as a Lorient football player in the 2002 Coupe de France final match where he took part in the celebrations and even greeted the then president of France Jacques Chirac" (from Wikipedia).

Mr. Picasso Head

On this website you make your Picasso Head (or other picture) by selecting a face shapes, eyes, ears, noses, colors, abstract pieces, and many many more. You don't have to make a face, I saw a penguin-ish I really liked. (To see the penguin search "Summer Skin" in the gallery search.) Check out the gallery to get some ideas then make your own. It's like creating a Wii Mii but much more artistic. Manthers I think you will really like this one.

Someone make a monkaaay!

Photoshop Magnets

"Those pictures on your fridge are being held up by, what - a badly painted ceramic fridge-magnet with a dolphin that says "Boca Raton" on it? Your grandma give you that? Why not put your pictures where they belong! In Photoshop! Sorta! Stick your precious family moments on the chilly kitchen appliance with magnets shaped like your favorite photo-manipulator. Eleven magnets, all set to do your dirty work."

I love these magnets, it's right up my alley. But they are $25! So I have been collecting free magnets and I'm going to do screen shots of photoshop, print them, and glue them to the magnets.

Want to buy this product? TOO BAD! It is so popular they can't keep them in stock.

"We wanted to get our clients moving behind their desk, so we've made up this notebook with on one side space to write and on the other side ball patterns. Just crumble up an piece of paper an you can play soccer, or rugby, or throw a tennis ball in your waste basket. We've won a bronze medal for 'printed self promotion' in 2007 European Design Awards for this design."

T.W.I.N.K.I.E.S.

T.W.I.N.K.I.E.S.
T.W.I.N.K.I.E.S. stands for Tests With Inorganic Noxious Kakes In Extreme Situations.
T.W.I.N.K.I.E.S. is a series of experiments conducted during finals week, 1995, at Rice University. The tests were designed to determine the properties of that incredible food, the Twinkie.

I hope these students got some sort of credit for these experiments, or they have way too much time on their hands during finals week. If you don't feel like reading all the tests (which you should it's worth it) you can go to the Haiku section of the website for short poems about the experiements. The best part for me is the Possible Applications section at the bottom of each experiment. One example follows. The best test perhaps is the Turing Test (to see if Twinkies are intelligent). It's best to read that section at least!

Two excerpts from the website:

Possible Applications of the Solubility test:

If, after having read the gravitational response test, an enemy of yours has concluded that Twinkies are strong, he may build a castle out of Twinkies, hoping to thwart your attempts to sack and pillage once more from his vast treasuries. But do not be so thwarted, as his would-be impenetrable fortress is easily dismantled by immersing it in water from Rice University for a period of 48 hours.

Possible Applications of the Rapid Oxidation test:
After careful analysis of the results, we feel that Twinkies could be an acceptable substitute for firewood in some situations. They are especially ideal since, while the Twinkie is within its freshness period guaranteed by Hostess, it will remain moist, and therefore not burn until an accelerant is added, thus removing the possibility of premature Twinkie combustion.
