-----Friday Diversion: Flurrious---------------------------------

Flurrious...... in this view you can see other's snow flakes. Just try to point at one and the name/place/message will appear.

Now the neat part... making your own flake! Just experiment with click and drag and try different buttons to the left for different shapes. Buttons to the right change the line, making it brighter or dimmer, fuzzier or cleanier, etc.

Here is my flake!

-----Winter Weather--------------------------

Since the news is really upset about the impending doom that is the white death headed our way right now even as we speak and there is no stopping it, nothing we can do!!!!!!!!!........ I'll post some interesting facts about weather for real.
Notice in the first chart from weather.com a Winter Weather Watch (what we have now at 7:15pm Wednesday night until 10:00pm Thursday night) is: "a significant winter weather is expected, but not imminent for the watch area, provides 12 to 36 hours notice of the possibility of severe winter weather." (First of all I can't help but notice the grammatical mistake in this sentence that is happening b/c of the parentheses ending with a plural and then the use of IS, but I think, and I could be wrong that you should form the sentence as if there aren't parentheses and do the subject-verb agreement based on that.... I'm getting off topic...)

The next chart is the Wind Chill Equivalent Index. I never really knew exactly what the wind chill was besides the definition "what it feels like".... feels like to who or what?! Now I know, "The calculation of temperature that takes into consideration the effects of wind and temperature on the human body." I really like the fact that this chart shows how fast you will get frostbite. And I'm surprised that it takes 5 whole minutes to get frostbite when it is -45 degrees outside. That'd be cold. (The news commercial just said "As the winter storm bears down on the city stay with 9 news.... blah blah blah.) Now as a math geek... this table is not enough, I want to know the formula.

And finally just a side note: The snow is not supposed to start falling until mid-morning. So if you want to send the kids to school get them there on time. I don't understand why schools are getting delayed 2 hours right now. That will just delay the commute to the same time the snow is going to start. This makes no sense! Or the time in high school when they sent everyone home early since it was snowing so bad, but if they would have waited until the normal dismissal time it would have given the crews a couple hours to get it cleaned up and there would have been no danger.
